The Little Mermaid was a very popular movie in 1989 which was really enthusiastic and entertaining for kids. It has some fun facts but at the same time has some things that are really sad because there is an evil in the movie which made it a little scary maybe for the kids. In 2023 a film just like this came out but with the difference that this time it a black Ariel which made people feel disappointed because it was not a white Ariel anymore. And some people express their point of view on the internet saying that they do not agree with a black Ariel story now, while others think that race switching is not a problem.  In one of the articles that I have read, I have been able to differentiate the different points of view that white people have, such as this girl who commented that she does agree with the race switching that they did with Ariel because she considers that it is a change for the movie, in addition to this, she also expresses that this movie was made especially for children and that adults should not be giving their opinion on a subject that they are not very involved in. And from her point of view, we can see how she expresses that this movie is for kids, not adults. And maybe the comment she posted is for adults and people who oppose this change. We can see this in this comment that she made. “ The #NotMyAriel backlash is part of the wave of white nostalgia that Donald Trump used to win the presidency by appealing to white, working-class Americans who feel marginalized by the country’s growing diversity.” Here you can also see that this person is white and she is not defending white people but rather defending people of color because she believes that just like white people, they also have the right to act in any film.

And unlike Ariel, Cinderella did receive support from everyone in the entire audience, which is a good thing. Cinderella didn’t receive not much criticism like Ariel received. She besides received all the support from the audience because at that time racism was not it wasn’t a topic that many people talked about. And is because this movie was filmed in the 90s which is really weird for you to find racism in this time. Cinderella received Many positive comments about how they had done a good job and also that it was the best production that they had ever made. One of the many people who commented said that this had been one of the best films of the 90s, he also said that this film was full of modernity and elegance for that time. It conjured a world that was vibrant and modern and multicultural, and it filled that world with magic. Rewatching the film onits twentieth anniversary, I was struck by how important it still seems.Cinderella is the product of a very specific, hugely important moment inthe ’90s. And like I said before this is one of the many comments that the people make when they see this movie and that they believe this was the best movie for that time. And the person who commented this was black, which means that these people support each other and this is a good thing because when Ariel came out as a black person, there was a black person who did not agree with Ariel being changed and was outraged by this change. Because here we can see that it is different because they are supporting each other and they are not criticizing but they think that it has been a very good production and a very good movie. And people of this time were not afraid of changes.
