Self Assesment Essay

This essay will reflect on how I was able to improve while writing my drafts. And one of the things I was able to improve was knowing how to write or know how to develop my thesis well. At first this was difficult to learn and it was like a challenge for me, but over time I did well and all of that was thanks to the fact that I was able to learn new ideas in class, including.Explore and analyze, in writing and reading, a variety of genres and rhetorical situations. In a draft it is really important for the reader to understand what the writer is talking about. For example “Rewatching the film on its twentieth anniversary, I was struck by how important it still seems. Cinderella is the product of a very specific, hugely important moment in the ’90s” By Brandy on Black Beauty. This really helps me because I saw that there were people grateful that the producer from Cinderella changed the actors because They saw the same character for a long time and maybe they thought it would be good for them to make some changes. This was good for some people because they say that they relieved some moments from when Cinderella first came out. I got this quote from a class assignment that I did with my classmates where we had to find the different points of view, such as genre, audience, argument, author, and purpose. These helped us to know how to identify this because in that way we found the true conflict in each article and the purpose of why each author wrote it.

My second learning from this semester is Developing strategies for Reading, Drafting, Collaborating, Revising, and Editing. The most helpful thing for me was editing because This helped me identify some errors in my draft. And the reverse online helped me more, When I was writing it because  In reverse online you got to write things in a different way which helps you identify some mistakes that you may have. I was able to realize that there were some parts of my draft that were not where they should be or that talked about some topics that had nothing to do with my draft. Thanks to the online reverse I was able to realize that  I was able to change them and provide better information.

My third learning for this semester was with Recognizing and practicing key rhetorical terms and strategies when engaged in writing situations. Key rhetorical terms also help you because it is good when you need to start an argument to discuss your topic. Something that we discuss in class that help me understand and see how to start and argument was this article that comes from Brooke Newman “The #NotMyAriel backlash is part of the wave of white nostalgia that Donald Trump used to win the presidency by appealing to white, working-class Americans who feel marginalized by the country’s growing diversity.” When we analyzed this in class, my classmates had different points of view and each one gave their opinion. Just like in the comments, people have different opinions. Some agreed while others did not, which makes it a debate and some argument. Ethos is one of the things that is most evident in this article because here the white community is expressing how they feel about the casting of a black actress in the Little Mermaid movie. As you read the article you can see that they are giving their own opinions and beliefs about this.

Ethos, Logos, and Pathos for Persuasion

My Fourth learning from this semester is understanding and using print and digital technologies to address a range of audiences. This really helped me this semester because when writing a draft you really need reliable sources. This is important because you could get some false sources and is not going to be  a good thing for your draft. Something that we did in class that really helped me was the wordpress site because in this site we have the opportunity to organize our work and because are teacher at any time could revise our work because we have to share our page with her and like that she can see what we are missing and what things we can fix.

Two Types of Citation – MLA Style Citations

And lastly with Compose texts that integrate a stance with appropriate sources, using strategies such as summary, analysis, synthesis, and argumentation. Something that helped me a lot to understand more about this is the MLA citation. MLA citations are important because it is your evidence to let the reader know where you got your information from. This is very important to get right because sometimes you may have something wrong or the source may not be reliable or credible, which makes your draft look bad. To conclude, I would like to know more about MLA citations and I would also like to learn more about how to develop a thesis, since this is something that can help me in the future in any other classes.
